Episode 1: Moll Anderson

I remember sitting in a Barnes & Noble as a young designer, holding one of Moll Anderson’s books.

At the time, she was my design hero. Someone I admired from a distance.

I couldn’t have imagined that years later, Moll would become one of my dear friends. Our husbands would become friends, too.

And we’d eventually be sitting across from one another, having this conversation.

Life has a funny way of bringing a story full circle.

And if there’s one thing Moll’s story reminds me, it’s that we never really know what the next chapter might hold.

Sometimes Starting Over Looks Nothing Like You Imagined

Moll has built a beautiful life around design, creativity, and connection.

But the path wasn’t always beautiful. Or certain.

She once left Arizona for Nashville without a plan, took a job paying $10 an hour, and found a mentor who would change the direction of her life.

I love that part of her story.

Because when we look at someone’s life from the outside, we see the accomplishments. We don’t always see the decisions, detours, and uncomfortable beginnings that made them possible.

And our conversation goes well beyond career reinvention.

We talk about the friendships that find us in the middle of life, the family patterns we learn to heal from in adulthood and love, and what it takes to recognize when something needs to change.

We also get into starting over in midlife, the power of mentorship, and why Moll has no intention of retiring from a life she’s still so curious about.

In fact, she’s already working on her next book and a new podcast.

Because who says we have to be finished?

A Life Well Lived Looks at What’s Still Possible

There’s something especially meaningful about getting to have this conversation with a woman I once admired from afar.

But what I hope you’ll take away from Moll’s story isn’t simply how far she’s come.

It’s her willingness to keep going.

To begin again.

To let people change her life.

To look honestly at the patterns that shaped her.

And to stay curious about what might still be possible.

In this episode of The Catherine Tuton Show, Moll and I talk about the experiences, relationships, and choices that have shaped the woman she is today.

And I think you’ll find plenty worth talking about afterward.

Come curious.
