Episode 5: Christian Siriano

I’ve always believed that personal style tells a story.

About where we’ve been. Who we are.

And most interestingly, who we’re becoming.

It’s one of the reasons I’ve always loved the world of design — and the relationship between fashion and confidence.

Because some of the most impactful people I’ve met aren’t the ones following the trends.

They’re the ones creating something that feels entirely their own.

And my longtime friend Christian Siriano has made a career out of doing exactly that.

From Project Runway to nearly two decades of New York Fashion Week, Christian has built an extraordinary creative life.

But when we sat down together for The Catherine Tuton Show, of course I wanted to talk about more than the clothes.

I wanted to talk about the person behind them.

Behind the Glamour, There’s a Whole Lot of Grit

It’s easy to look at a beautiful runway show and see the finished product.

The clothes.
The lights.
The moment.

What we don’t see is every hard moment it takes to get there.

The decisions, the pressure, the creative risks, and the willingness to keep showing up with something new.

That’s part of what Christian and I explore in our conversation.

We talk about trusting your instincts when you’re building a career, navigating the expectations that come with success, and finding the confidence to keep evolving.

Because confidence at one stage of life doesn’t necessarily look like confidence at another.

And I find that fascinating.

We also get into something I’ve always appreciated about Christian’s approach to fashion: his commitment to designing for women of every shape and size.

There’s something powerful about a designer who understands that women don’t all look alike or want to express themselves in the same way.

Nor should they.

Fashion can be beautiful, playful, daring, and deeply personal.

And at its best, it gives us another way to tell the world who we are.

Not who someone else thinks we should be.

The Most Interesting Life Is the One You Make Your Own

One of the things I admire about Christian is that he’s continued to create through different seasons of his life and career.

And I think there’s something we can all take from that.

You don’t have to stop being curious once you’ve found success.

You don’t have to keep doing things the same way simply because they’ve worked before.

And there’s a particular kind of confidence that comes from trusting your own vision enough to keep creating.

That’s what I hope you’ll hear in this conversation.

Not just a story about fashion, but a story about the courage to make something your own.

Come see what’s behind the runway.

xo, 💋
