Episode 2: Brooke Burke

There’s something I’ve come to appreciate more and more with age.

The freedom to stop worrying quite so much about what everyone else thinks.

Not because we stop caring about people – if anything, we care more than ever.

But because somewhere along the way, we start to recognize the difference between showing up for others and losing ourselves in their expectations.

And that distinction can change everything.

It’s one of the things I loved exploring with Brooke Burke on The Catherine Tuton Show.

The Woman You Are When You Stop Performing

Brooke has lived more than one chapter in the public eye, navigating motherhood, a career, personal growth, and all the expectations that come with being a woman whose life people think they know.

But what interested me most about our conversation wasn’t the public version of Brooke.

It was the woman who’s still growing, changing, and figuring out what matters to her.

We talk about friendship and personal boundaries. About making space for the right people at your table, and learning to choose acceptance over expectations.

And we get into something I think a lot of women will recognize: the difference between being nice and being kind.

Sometimes being nice means saying yes when you want to say no.

Keeping the peace.

Making yourself smaller so someone else stays comfortable.

And sometimes, being kind means being honest enough to do the opposite.

Our conversation also takes us into motherhood and aging, and confidence in midlife.

The expectations we carry.

The ones we eventually question.

And what it looks like to show up as yourself, even when doing so feels uncomfortable.

I think there’s something refreshing about hearing a woman talk openly about becoming more comfortable in her own skin.

Not because she’s figured everything out.

But because she’s willing to keep figuring it out.

You Don’t Have to Be Who You Used to Be

One of the things I hope women take away from this conversation is that we’re allowed to change.

Our priorities.

Our relationships.

Our definition of confidence.

Even our minds.

And we don’t owe everyone an explanation for the woman we’re becoming.

There’s a certain freedom in realizing you can be kind, thoughtful, and generous without abandoning yourself in the process.

I hope this episode leaves you a little more curious about the expectations you’re ready to let go of.

We’d love to have you.
